Hypnosis works by accessing the subconscious mind directly, bypassing the critical mind. By giving positive suggestions that the subconscious takes as fact while under hypnosis, a new pattern of beneficial behaviors is established. Success! Onto a better life! These new behaviors can occur as fast as the first session, but many times, additional sessions are needed to completely cement the new patterns.
- Smoking cessation – Otherwise known as ‘quitting smoking’. There are a few factors with smoking cigarettes that make it difficult for smokers to quit. There’s the dependence on nicotine, but there can also be ingrained social patterns that the smoker may not even be aware of. Seeing a loved older relative smoke may create a “warm and fuzzy” spot toward the act of smoking, creating a positive emotional justification to smoke in the smoker’s mind, even when they consciously know they should quit. Hypnosis can get to the root of these motivations to smoke, and replace them with positive, life-affirming behaviors.
- Weight Loss/Body Image – Over-eaters over eat for a variety of reasons. Some can be emotional, getting a form of short-lived “comfort” from the indulgence of too much food, but this is usually just to mask emotional pain that hasn’t been dealt with properly. Other reasons can be poor eating/dietary habits, inherited from family or friends, that create cravings for more sugar, more salt, and more fatty foods. The vicious cycle continues again and again. Hypnosis can break this vicious cycle by creating a new perception of one’s body, a much deeper and positive relationship with it and the food that sustains it. With this new informed positive self-image, both thoughts and actions will be good for the body. Weight loss is only one of the many benefits that come with proper hypnotherapy, along with a brighter outlook, more energy, more self-confidence, and feeling/being more attractive.
- Relaxation – Hypnosis is an amazing way to completely relax the mind and body. We can hold onto stress that we may not even realize we have while we’re busy doing our every day activities. Hypnosis can bring a sense of peace and tranquility in the mind, along with the health benefits of relieving stress in the body.
